An excellent dining pub is just 100 yards and the marina has a licensed café and shop. There are excellent towpath and country walks and visitors may hire a day boat (at discounted rate) to explore the 17 miles of canal (with 7 pubs to visit!). The Ironbridge Museum, Shugborough Hall (NT) and Chester Zoo are popular day trips.

Had a lovely stay at Wharf cottage,cosy cottage, was a bit chilly though but it was sub minus temperatures out side,excellent views over the canal and adjacent country side,superb location,very pleasent owners, very good pub across the bridge with nice food and roaring fires, wharf shop well stocked with food and gifts, shame we couldnt take advantage of the day boat but the canal was frozen.Will be back

Great area for walks, not to far from great shopping. Lovely views, pub across the bridge was fantansic for food.

Long famous for its potteries and its beer, Staffordshire also lays claim to not one but two of England’s most popular visitor attractions. All the more reason to take a break in one of our holiday cottages in Staffordshire.
Staffordshire’s largest city is Stoke-on-Trent, also known as The Potteries. This has been the centre of Britain’s ceramic industry for centuries, and the home of such famous names as Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. If you’re a fan of good English ale, then our Staffordshire cottage holidays are the ideal opportunity for a visit to Burton-on-Trent, where the unique quality of the water gave rise to the town’s brewing heritage.
But it’s not all industry in Staffordshire. You can enjoy some lovely countryside in the Peak District, Cannock Chase and the Staffordshire Moorlands – great for walking and wildlife enthusiasts. And then there is Alton Towers, one of the UK’s premier visitor attractions with a truly scary selection of rollercoasters, as well as Drayton Manor, which has some exciting white knuckle rides of its own. The small city of Lichfield, which still retains its old world charm is also well worth a visit.
